Scholes

If he plays in tonight’s Champions League match versus Roma, it will be Paul Scholes’ 100th appearance in the competition. (The all-time leader, by the way, is Raul with 116 appearances). Sir Alex was asked whether he would make Scholes captain to mark the occasion. His reply was:

“There’s no chance of that (being captain). Paul would regard it as a form of punishment.”

Anyway, good on you, Scholesy.

Here’s something I missed earlier, and it deserves a second reading. Patrick Barclay had this to say about our boy Scholes. He has

a hundred years of football in his blood.

What a brilliant turn of phrase, and it captures our number 18 perfectly.
