
If he plays in tonight’s Champions League match versus Roma, it will be Paul Scholes’ 100th appearance in the competition. (The all-time leader, by the way, is Raul with 116 appearances). Sir Alex was asked whether he would make Scholes captain to mark the occasion. His reply was:
“There’s no chance of that (being captain). Paul would regard it as a form of punishment.”
